New location geothermal project

New location geothermal project strikes balance between sustainability and living environment.

Schenkeveld/Harting Holland is positive about the decision of the Municipal Executive of Midden-Delfland. Geothermal Heat Delfland is moving to a new location on Lotsweg, right next to Schenkeveld's greenhouse complex in Den Hoorn. This will provide clarity about the development of geothermal heat in the area and create a solution that takes into account both sustainable ambitions and the interests of local residents.

There had previously been talk of two geothermal projects on Woudseweg 160b. These plans led to concerns among local residents, including about noise pollution, views and possible impact on the residential environment. The college has indicated that the relocation of Delfland Geothermal Heat came about after careful consideration of spatial and environmental aspects and partly in response to the concerns expressed.

For Schenkeveld/Harting Holland, this development fits well with the long-term vision of sustainable greenhouse horticulture. Geothermal heat plays an important role in making the sector more sustainable and reducing CO₂ emissions. At the same time, it is essential for Schenkeveld/Harting Holland that these steps are taken carefully, with attention to the environment and in consultation with stakeholders.
