A side job at Schenkeveld

A part-time job at Schenkeveld. Not bad at all for your child!
Our daughter has been working at Schenkeveld for three years now and calls herself one of the leaf biter. Every Saturday morning and in the holidays, she goes with a group of schoolchildren to cut off the leaves so that the tomatoes catch some more sunlight. In winter, the club starts at 8am. But these days they have to put on the cleanly washed work clothes at the farm first, because all risk of possible contamination of those delicious tomatoes is ruled out at Schenkeveld. So little daughter jumps on her bike as early as 7.30am.
Around noon, she returns home with a few green smudges on her face. If she was assigned 'on a pad' with a nice other pupil she is almost always in a good mood when she gets home. Or if there was nice radio on, or if she performed best that morning, or if they had a really good laugh together at break, then she had a nice morning. But mountain you if it rained when she had to cycle, she cut her finger or if she didn't get going all morning or because there was no one to chat with.
Of course, the money she makes from it is the main driver for her. Without this salary, she would not be able to do the things she can afford now. And I am talking about things like her phone subscription, going out, shopping for clothes, having a coffee with friends or wolfing down a menu at McDonalds. Now she is saving for her car driving lessons. Soon, she plans to start this.
For school, she has to work quite hard and I think it is very important that she takes enough time for that. Every week, she has to report in an online portal how much she will come to work the following week. I want her to check if her schedule allows it first. Schoolwork comes first! The app group then reports who is "allowed to come to work". Sometimes there is not enough work for all the students, and she does not have to come. I think the fact that she is then frustrated is a good sign. So she really likes it at Schenkeveld!
